Will Edgel
Finding Wholeness LGBTQ+
Trigger warning - talk of suicide. In this episode we are back with Will Edgel. He came out to his family at the age of 17 as gay and because he knows first hand the support needed he now specializes in working with gay men to help them live their best lives.
He chooses to build up and support his clients in a way that empowers them to see and live beyond the difficulties. This conversation is an important one to have and the things he teaches has relevance in all our lives.
Will Edgel is a wellness coach for gay men. He came out to his family at 17. In this conversation with Mechelle Wingle, he talks openly about shame: what it is, why it hits so many LGBTQ+ people so hard, and how to heal it. In this video: • Why shame is a social emotion, and why it makes us hide. • How years of hiding can cut you off from what you really want in life. • Building shame resilience, and why you don't have to come out to everyone to heal. • Brené Brown's idea of opening up to safe people, and pride as the other side of shame. • What to say and do when someone comes out to you: listen, hold space, and keep the conversation going. • "Do gay your way." Living your own life, not someone else's. Good for LGBTQ+ people, and for parents, friends, and anyone who wants to support them well.
