IRT - Self Harm
Feeling the urge to self-harm? This Immediate Release Technique offers a moment of calm and care. A grounding session to help you pause, breathe, and reconnect with safety.
Feeling the urge to self-harm? Will Edgel guides you through an Immediate Release Technique (IRT): a quick tapping-style practice that helps you pause, breathe, and trade that feeling for self-love. In this video: • Repeat the phrase "I trade in my feeling of self-harm for the feeling of self-love," or choose the word that fits you best. • A "break state": squeeze your eyes shut and open them three times, then take three deep breaths. • Hands over your heart in a clockwise circle: "Even though I have experienced the feeling of self-harm, I trade it for the feeling of self-love, and I love and accept myself anyway." Good for a moment of calm and care. If you're thinking about hurting yourself, please also reach out for support: in the US, call or text 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
